Tragedy nearly befell a small town in Highland, Arkansas, recently when two young boys had a brush with death in front of their school. One was about to be hit when, suddenly, eighth-grader Dakota Poteete pushed him out of harm’s way.
Poteete, was then struck by the oncoming vehicle, flipped up into the air, and struck by a second vehicle.
The boys were reportedly crossing a busy highway while returning from a Dollar General store where they had purchased a snack between football games.
A post to a community Facebook page detailed that Dakota required numerous stitches to close gashes in his head and nose, and suffered multiple bruises, but escaped the incident without any broken bones.
Poteete has already been released and was reportedly recovering at home.
